Our 7th Counsellor Camp – a national professional development opportunity and conference on Thursday 26th & Friday 27th July, 2012 at Radisson Resort, Carrara, GOLD COAST
Counsellor Camps is a unique opportunity for counselling professionals including students, psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists, mental heath nurses and workers, social workers and anyone else working with people!
Our aim is for participants to access a cost effective way to attain professional development, networking and burnout prevention through an experiential program and relaxation/retreat.
It has been designed and created BY counsellors FOR counsellors.
Counsellor Camps is a two day professional development retreat to enhance a counselling professionals counselling and intervention skills as well as self care.
Our workshop program for this event includes a range of experiential workshops lead by counselling professional and practicing facilitators in their field of expertise.
The program features a combination of small group experiential workshops as well as 15 minute massage and an hour yoga session for complete relaxation, all included in our cost effective conference fee.
Professional Development points are available* on an hour by hour basis excluding breaks so 11 hours for the two day conference. Certificate of completion will be issued. (*record of such must be kept, check with your association if not PACFA MA).
Our interactive, relevant and professionally facilitated workshops will include a choice of:
- Where did my mojo go?
- Mindfulness relaxation moments throughout the program
- Reducing vicarious trauma
- Where did my mojo go?
- Using sand trays to promote client growth
- Creating a memory box working with grief and loss
- Overcoming ambivalence in the couples context
- Managing and assessing risk
- Using mapping to enhance client stories
- Using art as therapy to reduce client resistance and build resilience
- 1 hour Yoga session
- Massage (15 minute massage included in full day registration fee)
- Reconnecting you, the counsellor and your practice- a group supervision discussion to bring it all together
- Conference Dinner (night of day one optional and extra cost )
Counsellor Camps provides YOU or your staff with the opportunity to learn new skills, hone existing ones, network with like-minded others and relax with a massage or yoga session.

Stacey will discuss how you can use mapping to enhance their story, retelling of it and re-storying lead into discovery, empowerment and enhanced coping for your client. You will also be introduced to the use of strengths based cards to assist the clients narrative. |

| 5 | 7.45am | YOGA for one hour (Lana Slivar)Yoga is offered as part of your conference package to assist participants to relax and detoxify levels of stress present prior to this session. The yoga session will be at a beginner’s level and be an hour in duration. |

To conclude your experience and participation in the Counsellor Camp Conference, we will lead a brief and relaxed discussion to consolidate what you have learnt at the Camp; and how it will inform and transform your practice. So, you achieve not only experiential experiences and information from the Camp but also a ‘mind retreat’ and relaxation over the past two days. |
